Coppelia

2111 Calle L, La Habana, Cuba

One does not visit Havana without also visiting the capital’s iconic ice cream emporium, Coppelia, where, for the equivalent of about 75 cents, a family of five can indulge in more ice cream than should be permitted legally. True, the quality isn’t the best and the options are, without fail, limited, but it’s the experience that’s the draw here; you get to sit among Cubans who usually bring containers from home to load up with the flavor of the day and who can consume an amount of ice cream in one sitting that doesn’t seem humanly possible. Regardless of the hour, be prepared for a wait.
