Open your eyes and learn about Laos' sad history
If you didn't already know, Laos was the most bombed country during the Vietnam war. The silent war the US engaged in with Laos resulted in 7 million bombs being dropped and many of those bombs being left unexploded in the country today, resulting in multiple deaths and the debilitation of many every year.

At the COPE Center, which is a close-enough walk from Patuxai, you can watch documentaries on how the Vietnam war devastated Laos, and current efforts to clean up the UXOs still a threat to villages throughout the country.

Free entrance with optional donations.
