Bikes. I noticed on my 2nd trip to Italy that there are many bikes. The Italians use them a lot to get from point A to point B. And they usually look pretty darn good doing it. On this 3rd trip to Italy, I was even more attuned to the bikes and found myself looking for them as I wandered the small towns of Umbria and Tuscany. While meandering through the Tuscan hill town of Pienza on a Sunday afternoon, I came across this colorful and well-cared for bicycle. The beautiful wooden doors of the home, the green plants and the mailbox sprouting a bit of mail made for such a wonderful image. It's scenes like this that make me feel as though I get a glimpse into the life of a real Italian. And that is why I travel.
