Housed in an old boatbuilding shed by the sea, Coast is a creative space for local artists with big ideas and chill attitudes. Work spaces are set up everywhere in this site carved out of the surrounding industrial area. In sheds and trailers out in the yard, under an open-sided tin roof, creative types are building and making. And hanging out. The collective—welders, ceramicists, surfboard designers, skateboarders, printmakers, web designers, boatbuilders, and hangers-on—also use this location to host concerts, events, and studio tours. Browse the handmade bikes, boats, baskets, and surfboards, and dig into a few novels written by local authors. Coast has extended its creative presence in Key West by opening a shop on Whitehead Street in Old Town, where T-shirts, hats, and items made at the Stock Island HQ are sold.
