Corpse Reviver #2
In addition to Clive Bar’s wood-paneled, no-fuss, roadhouse-feel interior (there’s even a buck deer head mounted on the wall), its ample patio allows for easy conversation on mild days. It also features a surprise: tucked away in a patio corner is a hut housing a separate bar devoted to mescal, whose popularity seems only to increase by the day, or night. Clive Bar also showcases the trend for barrel-aged cocktails and the classics—among them, three different Manhattans, plus the helpfully named Corpse Reviver #2 (gin, Cointreau, Lillet, and lemon juice). Given Texas’s close ties with Mexico, one can also look forward to such inventive house specialties as the Zapatista (tequila-based) and the Mexican Mule (mescal meets Maine Root Ginger Beer.)
