Church of São Francisco in Anchieta Plaza
374 Praça Conselheiro Almeida Couto
Salvador's Historic CenterSalvador's Historic Center is a great place to explore this city's rich history. I recommend going early to beat the crowds. Pictured here is the Church of Sao Francisco which has a very rich history dating back to the 1700s', after an earlier structure was burned down by invading Dutch forces. The church's interior is very impressive as well as most of the surfaces are covered by golden sculpted gilt woodwork.
