Chugach State Park
One of the largest state parks in the country, Chugach State Park spans over 200,000 hectares (495,000 acres) and offers lakes, glaciers, ocean shoreline and over 450 kilometers (280 miles) of trails. Some easy routes affording spectacular views include the Anchorage Overlook Trail and Thunderbird Falls Trail. There are also opportunities in the park for biking, horseback riding, kayaking and canoeing. The park is surrounded by the Chugach and Wrangell mountains, the Alaska Range and Prince William Sound.
