China Poot Bay
Midnight Mussel Gathering at Low Tide
When the tide is out and the skies are still bright (just before midnight in June) head out into Kachemak Bay toward China Poot Bay for some midnight mussel digging. Surrounded by sea stars and more mussels than you could eat in a lifetime, it's a beautiful adventure. Timing is everything and the tides come in and move out FAST, so make sure you have some local knowledge. The boat ride home will lend itself to a lovely sunset lasting seemingly hours on end.
