Chiesa di Santa Maria della Spina
Mini-Gothic Masterpiece in Pisa
There's more to Pisa than The Tower. Along the banks of the Arno sits this jewel-box-of-a-church, built in 1270--then dismantled and moved to higher ground in 1871. It's a peaceful visit, away from the tourist crowds of Pisa's main attraction, the exterior sculptural details are marvelous and inside is a lovely statue: the Madonna of the Rose by Pisano.
