There is more to Murano Island than a wide collective of storied glass blowers. Make the journey to this lagoon island and be sure to pay a visit to the Chiesa dei Santi Maria e Donato to view its restored Byzantine mosaic pavements dating to the 12th century. One of the oldest churches in the Venetian lagoon, Chiesa dei Santi Maria e Donato is admired for its complicated and impressive architectural working; its colonnaded exteriors, its hulking red brick walls and adjacent bell tower.
