The Dean of American Sculpture
Built in 1898, Chesterwood was the former summer estate of America's foremost public sculptor, Daniel Chester French, whose best known works include the "Seated Lincoln" for Washington, D.C.'s Lincoln Memorial, and the "Minute Man" in Concord, MA. The property encompasses French's intimate mansion, his European-inspired landscape and formal gardens, an 1800's barn- turned museum, and his amazing studio showcasing original plaster models as well as bronze and marble sculptures. Admire panoramic views of Monument Mountain or stroll the woodland paths laid out by French himself.
