A Drive Thru Safari in the Piney Woods
In the Piney Woods Texas town of Jacksonville, right in between Tyler and Nacogdoches, lies the 300-acre animal preserve called Cherokee Trace. A drive-thru safari experience lets guests interact with, feed, and photograph two dozen exotic and endangered species from the comfort of their own vehicles: bison, camel, emu, llamas, red kangaroos, water buffalo, and zebra among them. Cherokee Trace is just one option in the part of Texas for animal lovers and conservationists of all ages. You may want to also check out the Tiger Creek Wildlife Refuge, a rescue center for big cats, as well as the Caldwell Zoo with over 2,000 animals.
