Chemin du Bout de l'Île

148-178 Chemin du Bout de l'Île

The small town of Sainte Pétronille clings to the hillside on the southern end of the Ile d’Orleans, and offers the most dramatic views to be had of Quebec City on the horizon, just across the St. Lawrence. We visited in the early fall, just in time for the changing of the leaves, for dramatic skies, and for crisp, refreshing air that made the small island feel a world away from the big city—despite its obvious proximity. If you visit Quebec City, be sure to make a trip to the Ile d’Orleans for local beer, cider, cheeses, maple syrup, and all manner of duck delights all made on the island.
