From Chatham Bars Inn, you can set out on foot, bike, or in a Lexus from its fleet to reach the village. Stroll Main Street with an ice cream cone from Emack & Bolio’s to window-shop art galleries, sports outfitters, and dress shops (and, let’s face it, scan the listings in the real estate office windows). There are diversions for every taste: bookstores, an antique map dealer, candy shops, and even a Ben Franklin Five and Dime store. Locals recommend the French breakfast muffin from the Chatham Cookware Café and, for dinner, the Devils on Horseback (local scallops wrapped in bacon with lemon butter) and the over-the-top Cod on Cod entrée at the Impudent Oyster.
