Sundays at the Laff - Chateau Lafayette
For anyone looking for a true Ottawa experience in the historic, yet overly-touristed Byward Market, the Laff at the Chateau Lafayette is a good bet. Ottawa's oldest bar - serving since 1849 - is filled with the crazy assortment of characters that inhabit this city, whether they be public servants blowing off some steam, musicians, farmers, or truck drivin', hard drinkin' hockey-lovin' small-town Canadian boys, all with tall bottles of cheap Canadian beer in hand, of course. The Laff is famous for its Sunday Afternoon concerts, featuring house favorite and Ottawa legend Lucky Ron and his country/western showcase. Heads up - the set list rarely changes, but that's the way everyone at the Laff likes it.
