Château d'Ussé

Château d'Ussé: Sleeping Beauty's castle
This chateau built in the 15th and 16th centuries was said to have inspired Charles Perrault to write his fairy tale Sleeping Beauty. It has beautiful gardens with views of the Indre river and it beautifully decorated - including a room with a sleeping princess!

In addition to the chateau and gardens there is a beautifully restored Renaissance church on the grounds as well.

One thing to note if you plan to visit, it is only open mid-February through mid-November.
