6617 Maybank Hwy, Wadmalaw Island, SC 29487, USA

Charleston has a long plantation history, but the most unique attraction in the city is the Charleston Tea Plantation. Located on Wadmalaw Island, it’s one of the few places where tea is still grown and produced in the United States. The tea plants came over from China in the 1700s, but it wasn’t until the next century that the tea began to grow. In 1963 the plantation was purchased for the growth of the plants, where it has remained ever since. Their American Classic Tea that they produce can be purchased and sampled on site and guests can also tour the factory and grounds.
