Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History
With one of the largest African American populations in the nation, it’s no wonder Detroit would be home to one of the preeminent museums dedicated to African American culture. The Charles H. Wright Museum, named for its founder—an African American doctor—was built in 1965 and houses more than 35,000 artifacts spanning the history of the United States.
