Chapelle Notre Dame de Lourdes

With its brilliant whitewashed walls and cliff-top location, the church of Notre Dame de Lourdes is in fact one of the first things visitors to Lifou spot as they approach the island. Constructed by Catholic missionaries, the structure dates back to 1858. Although the interior is simple (just a bench, an altar and a statue of Mary), the sweeping views outside—over the ocean and Easo Bay—are reward enough for the hike up the hill.
