Wadi Rum Visitor Center
Channeling Lawrence of Arabia
We took a 10-day trip through Jordan - we wanted to take our time to really explore this country. It wasn't enough. One reason: we spent half a day at the desert in Wadi Rum...I could've stayed months here. The monoliths at Wadi Rum are massive to say the least. This is where T.E. Lawrence (of Lawrence of Arabia fame) lived and you can still see his abode. We did a short camel and jeep safari for half a day because it was winter when temperature can drop to freezing at night and were advised against camping there. But I hope to come back during the warmer months to camp overnight and spend much more time hiking and riding the camels. In this beautiful setting, you really appreciate the vastness of what's out there.
