Champagne Taittinger

A Champagne Chateau
This chateau, now owned by Champagne Taittinger, was built in 1734. During the French Revolution, the owner at the time was a rather well-known writer, who ended up getting beheaded for his loyalty to the king. Fortunately, as a fellow writer, I survived my visit - quite happily, I should add! The chateau is surrounded by estate vineyards and faces the famous Cote des Blancs, where many of the Chardonnay grapes are grown for Champagne.
