Float in a salty lagoon
A short drive from the Tierra Atacama resort, the Cejar Lagoon was a very unique experience in the heart of the Atacama Desert. Water in this lagoon is ~14% salt; for comparison, sea water is ~3% salt, and the Dead Sea is ~33%. To avoid getting water in your eyes, it's best to enter the water butt-first from the rocky shoreline... this also helps you get over the fact that the water is very cold! Afterwards, take a walk to the neighboring lagoon that is closed to bathing and therefore frequented by water fowl and flamingos. You can walk right up the edge and admire the glittering salt shoreline.
