main street in downtown dallas has it going on. let's start with the joule hotel, which is the heartbeat of the area, and specifically cbd provisions, the restaurant on the ground floor that is so much more than a hotel restaurant. everything here is delicious, but especially the craft cocktails (the dill maguey is a delight!), the shrimp and grits, and the kale salad. start your evening here before heading upstairs to the bar, and end your evening strolling down main, past the flagship neiman marcus windows and the main street gardens park.

Classified as an “American Brasserie,” CBD Provisions is inside downtown Dallas's Joule Hotel and has earned raves for its focus on local and sustainable sourcing. The restaurant’s dedication to those principles is most apparent in Executive Chef Michael Sindoni’s signature Berkshire Pig Head Carnitas. Served with roasted tomatillo salsa, radishes, and warm tortillas, this is a “DIY” kind of dining experience: you create your own tacos from the meat of an actual roasted pig’s head, teeth and all, family-style. Though this is definitely a dish for meat eaters, CBD has plenty of vegetarian options, like fried Brussels sprouts with burnt honey vinaigrette, beet hummus with smoked blue cheese and marinated celery, and buttermilk biscuits with a creamed collard dip.
