Haitian Surf ShacksOil and water. Cats and dogs. Surfing and Haiti. On the surface, these three pairs would seem simpatico. Prior to the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, they really were. Thanks to a handful of surfer-dude disaster relief workers, though, Haiti has recently risen to represent the new frontier of surfing in the Caribbean. A few years ago, I took a trip down to Cayes-Jacmel to see Haiti's new surf community for myself. I was staying at the Marriott Port-au-Prince, a few hours drive away. If I'd known of the surf shacks along the beach here, though, I would've booked a few nights in Cayes-Jacmel to see/enjoy more of the surf.
