Cave Falls Yellowstone
There are about 290 waterfalls in Yellowstone. The tallest is the Lower Falls in the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone (308 feet, about twice the height of Niagara Falls). Among the shortest is Cave Falls (about 20 feet). What it lacks in height though, Cave Falls makes up for with accessibility and width. It’s one of the few waterfalls in the park you can drive to and, at 250 feet wide, it is the park’s widest. Anywhere else in Yellowstone a drive-to waterfall would be packed with people. But Cave Falls is in in the park’s southwestern corner (a.k.a. “Cascade Corner” because of its density of waterfalls), which is its most remote developed area. Only dirt roads go to Cave Falls. Once there, look for the falls’ namesake cave; on the northern side it’s about 50 feet tall and 300 feet long.
