Just outside the Antwerp cathedral is a bench and plaque that commemorate the story A Dog of Flanders.
The story, with some of it set in Antwerp, was not well known in Belgium (having been written by an Englishwoman). For some reason the Japanese fell in love with the adventures of Nello and his dog Patrasche and it was made into an anime movie. It was also adapted to the movies several more times but it was Toyota who paid for the plaque that sits in front of the cathedral, which is an important part of the story.
If you're planning to visit Antwerp, read the story first, or see one of the many movies.
