Cathedral of Minorca

Carrer de Cal Bisbe, 8, 07760 Ciutadella de Menorca, Illes Balears, Spain

Today Mahón is the capital of Minorca, but historically the capital was Ciutadella de Menorca, at the other end of the island. Take a day trip here to explore a different side of Minorca’s history. While the British largely influenced Mahón, Ciutadella has a mix of Spanish, Italian and Arab features. The Catalan Gothic–style Cathedral of Minorca was built on a site where a mosque had once stood, and completed in 1362. Other sightseeing stops should include the Royal Palace and the Castell de Sant Nicolau, now a museum.
