Monaco’s first parish church Saint Nicolas was built in 1252. Standing next to the Prince’s Palace, the building was destroyed and rebuilt in 1873 by Prince Charles III. Now known as the Cathédrale Notre-Dame-Immaculée de Monaco, this neo-Byzantine monument with two spectacular pipe organs is where Prince Rainier III married actress Grace Kelly and is the traditional resting place of the princes of Monaco, including this prince and his fairy-tale princess.
