Catalina Island, California

The underwater world around Catalina Island is as fascinating as what is above the surface. From sea lions to spotted calico bass to bright orange Garibaldi and sea urchins, the marine life here is thriving. See it all without getting wet in a semisubmersible submarine. Huge glass portholes put you about 1.5 meters (five feet) beneath the surface during this cruise, allowing you to get up close and personal with schools of passing fish. Cruises depart several times a day from Green Pleasure Pier in Avalon Harbor and last 45 minutes.
