Castillo de Jagua
Getting to the Spanish fort of Castillo de Jagua is part of the adventure: You have to take a ferry across the Bahía de Cienfuegos with views of the city skyline en route. (The fort is older than the city of Cienfuegos, having been completed in 1742.) The building’s museum is interesting and you can pay a small fee to get a guided tour, which provides lots of details about the period of Spanish colonial rule and especially its history in Cienfuegos. Visitors rave about the nearby seafood restaurant, should your schedule permit a leisurely lunch.
