Castell de Bellver
Castell de Bellver, visible for miles around from its wooded hilltop outside Palma, is a unique building and one of Mallorca’s most famous sights. Bellver (from the Old Catalan bell veer, meaning "beautiful view") is one of Europe’s few circular castles, and was built in the early 14th century by architect Pere Salvá as a palace for King James II. The castle was a royal residence for much of its history and is now open to the public as a historic site and museum. Open-air concerts are held on its Gothic patio on summer evenings.
