Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth in Baños
Baños, a popular tourist town in Ecuador, is tucked at the base of on-again-off-again Tungurahua volcano. Best known for its hot springs, Baños houses dozens of restaurants, hotels, and street vendors. Amidst the impressive varieties of rosaries and statues of the Virgen de Agua Santa, sugarcane hawkers serve up the sweet reed either freshly pressed in a paper cup, already bottled, or chopped up and ready to be gnawed on during the winding drive home. The refreshing juice makes a perfect snack to gratify your sweet tooth, but if you still can't shake that sugar fix, grab a stash of sticky candies stacked next to the bundles of trimmed canes.
