From a very comfortable base in Casamaccioli (population 100, this is the view from my room) chez Jean-François et Pascale, I followed a breathtakingly beautiful trail up to the top of this peak, the third highest in Corsica. Stunning vistas at every turn, it was an amazing hike, passing through many different micro climates, each with unique fauna and flora. I was lucky to spot a female mouflon, a rare endemic species of wild sheep found in the high ground of the northwest (only 500 survive). At the end of a very long, exhilarating day, I returned to the gite and dined on Pascale's sanglier stew, crusty French bread, and hearty Corsican wine from Patrimonio. Could it get any better than this?
