In a preserved Rural Village called Quintandona, you will find a cosy Country House called Casa Valxisto. Hélder and Ana will welcome you to their house, to their life project.
The house where Helder’s great grandparents and grandparents lived was recovered in the typical way, using shale and with the presence of granite and blackboard. A swimming pool facing the vineyards and the mountains invites you to dive in or just seat nearby reading a book.
Expect nothing less than delicious homemade food, try the Portuguese sausages made with the hands of Ana and her mother in law (they just need to grab them from the chimney). Catch some oranges from the trees in the backyard and squeeze them in order to have a 100% fresh juice.
Ask for suggestions on what to do in the surroundings, Hélder and Ana have plenty of ideas like places included in the Romanesque Route; and don’t forget to visit the village, just some minutes walk from the house. However if you prefer to stay home, play some billiards or chess; or if you are feeling tired and you want to relax, just ask them to book a massage in the room.
Casa Valxisto is pretty close to Porto, around 30 minutes by train; and about a 30 minutes drive from Douro River. A great choice for a weekend or why not an entire week.
