During our Caribbean VIP Safari, we first stopped at Casa Maria, a typical Dominican house where we learned how cacao and coffee grow. We saw how they're prepared and then sampled some of the best organic hot chocolate and coffee I've ever had. We had an opportunity to tour the house, take pictures, and purchase such items as coffee, cacao, MamaJuana, and spices.
We then traveled to Higuey to visit the most important church in the Dominican Republic. Its amazing brass doors were blessed by the pope, who has visited the church twice. We left and had a delicious lunch of grilled lobster while we floated down the Chavon River on a barge. Finally we toured a cigar factory, where we got a sample of its hand-rolled product and listened to an informative, entertaining explanation of the business.
