Room with a View
An evening bayside view from the balcony of our spacious two-level room at Casa Delfino invigorates me to get dressed to enjoy the evening.A five minute walk through the cobblestone narrow streets of Old Town and we find ourselves along the romantic waterfront which curves around to a lighthouse on the point of the bay.
A buffet of flavors to explore and enjoy---of coffee shops, delis & cafes, boutiques, restaurants, and ice cream parlors or nightclubs.
In addition to the harbor, beaches and hiking trails are a short walk from the graceful Casa Delfino Hotel.
This authentic hotel and spa was once the residence of the local family who gave the home as a dowry to their daughter, Margaritte, who along with her sea captain groom raised six children there.
It fell into ruin after World War II and a 5th generation descendent made it his mission to remodel the Delfino home into an elegant boutique hotel.
Instead of thinking "that's Greek to me", I learn to say "good afternoon" and "please" and "thank you" in Greek. That feat of memorization and practice earned me a free ice cream cone with one of the local vendors!
