Carriage Museum at Schönbrunn Palace
Imperial Carriage Museum
Getting around in the times of Sissi was not as easy as today’s car or bus ride, but it was done with infinitely more pomp and style. The Imperial Carriage Museum grants you a look back in time at the most ornate and impressive carriages in Austrian history and might even leave you wanting one of your own. On exhibit you will find around 170 different vehicles, including the solid gold carriage of Maria Theresia and the child’s phaeton of Napoleon’s son. While you will still treasure your car, bus or tram ride home, this museum will show you that royals throughout history knew how to travel comfortably.
