The waters of Baden-Baden have been known for their curative properties for centuries. The Caracalla baths were built in the 1980s, and updated in 2009. When my husband and I visited Baden-Baden recently, we found a wide spectrum of watery experiences to counter a December chill.
My husband enjoyed relaxing in warm water, and emerged completed relaxed. For me, the pleasure was time spent in the lightly scented darkness of the Roman steam bath and brine inhalation room. From the outdoor pools, warm in the frosty air, to seven dry saunas upstairs--and of course, those perfect temperatures and steam rooms in between--a few hours at Caracalla offers something for everyone.
Be sure to visit the Wellness Lounge for a massage to top off the experience. Caracalla has a restaurant for light or indulgent meals, and a shop for purchasing the requisite swimsuits, if you don't happen to have one with you.
