A Desert Oasis
Drive north to the Panhandle Plains of Texas, and you’ll soon reach the rugged beauty of Caprock Canyons. The State Park and Trailway is full of activities, including hiking, horseback riding, guided tours, mountain biking, and fishing. Perhaps the park’s most famous sight is Fern Cave, which is actually more of a rock overhang. In the shadow of the rock formation, with the steady supply of water from the Ogallala Aquifer spring, a dramatic abundance of ferns grows in this otherwise arid wilderness.
