Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

3735 Capilano Rd, North Vancouver, BC V7R 4J1, Canada

This 27-acre attraction in North Vancouver gets the heart racing with a suspension bridge that bounces 230 feet above a forested river gorge. Even more spectacular, however, is the Cliffwalk, a labyrinth of walkways along the granite flank of the valley. Get a bird’s-eye view of the area during the Treetops Adventure, a canopy expedition through the upper tiers of 250-year-old Douglas firs. The experience doesn’t come cheap at $46.95 per adult, but it does include free shuttle service from downtown and mini-tours that cover the flora, fauna, and First Nations involvement in the park. From late November to late January, Capilano strings holiday lights around the canyon and decorates the world’s tallest living Christmas tree.

Coastal Rainforest Canopy Walk

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park was thrilling, beautiful and easy to get to from downtown Vancouver. I loved the smell of the cedar from the suspension bridge which swung 230 feet above the Capilano River. On the other side we explored the coastal rainforest by walking the network of bridges in the canopy. Insightful nature guides pointed out the European Banana Slug, and First Nations totem poles and history provided the context for an amazing place. I also recommend the salmon burgers at the food stand by the gift shop!

Treetop Adventure at Capilano

Located just minutes from downtown Vancouver, on a free shuttle no less, is the nature oasis known as the Capilano Suspension Bridge. While the main bridge is spectacular, the new Treetop Adventure takes visitors 110 ft above the forest floor to discover this old-growth West Coast Rainforest from a higher perspective. It’s unlike anything else in the city and definitely lends itself to visitors interested in learning more about the Vancouver lifestyle that is so closely tied to the nearby coastal mountains. The Capilano Suspension Bridge is open seven days per week, all year, but hours do vary depending on the season. Entrance costs $32.95 for adults. Contact 604-985-7474 for more details.

For the Thrill Lovers

While in Vancouver we visited Capilano Suspension Bridge and loved it. It was especially entertaining for the kids, who loved to bounce on it for extra thrill points—not allowed, though, so do not do it :). So if you like the outdoors, this is the place for you.

Cliffwalk at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

If you are looking for some thrilling Vancouver activities, check out Cliffwalk at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. This is the newest of the activities at Vancouver’s Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. The heart-stopping cliffside journey takes you through rainforest vegetation on a series of unobtrusive cantilevered and suspended walkways jutting out from the granite cliff face above Capilano River to previously unexplored areas of the park. Not for the faint of heart, it is high and narrow and, in some sections, glass (very strong glass) is all that separates guests from the canyon far below.

Awesome way to explore the outdoors in Vancouver

A quick side trip from Vancouver is the Capilano Suspension Bridge. It’s high, it’s surrounded by delicate and gorgeous scenery and is something that you can’t do everywhere. High above the ground, you are transported to a wonderland in the forest and easily forget about your iPhones and mac books. Don’t forget to notice the smells- it is exactly like what you think forest should smell like- clean, beautiful and green.

Capilano Suspension Bridge

When you visit Vancouver, take a few hours, maybe half a day to visit the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. Keep Exploring...

You're Suspended!

This is a pic of my husband Jave as we prepared to walk across the swaying Capilano Suspension Bridge. The weather was freezing cold and drizzling (the norm for Vancouver), and my fingers were so numb from the cold that I was afraid that I’d drop my camera. If I had dropped it, my camera would’ve had a 230-foot drop to the rushing Capilano River below. The majesty of the trees, the river, and the cacophony of birds and insects was inspiring to say the least!

One of my Favourite Sights in Vancouver

The Suspension Bridge can be a bit scary if you’re afraid of heights, but there is nothing like being surrounded by so much beautiful nature! If you have more than 2 days in Vancouver, I highly recommend a visit, which can last about 2-3 hours. In 2011, when the Vancouver Canucks were in the Stanley Cup playoffs, the city was so supportive that a sign saying “Go Cancuks Go” was put on the bridge. It was one of my favourite Vancouver moments. You can get a great view of the suspension bridge from the Cliffwalk (which I highly recommend). Also note that there is a Treetop Adventure that makes this site more an amusement park. It’s great for families.

For Thrill Seekers: Capilano's Cliff Walk in Vancouver

This new site at the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is definitely one of the most exciting. Walk through the rainforest through narrow suspended walkways jutting from the granite cliffs of the park. Not only will you get a fantastic view below of the forest and swooshing canyon, but you’ll get an unparalleled view of the Suspension bridge for that picture-perfect postcard moment. Being a Torontonian, it was nice to breathe in some FRESH air from the source! This may not be the best site for those who are afraid of heights but if you’re for a rainforest adventure, this is definitely a must-see spot in beautiful, natural Vancouver!

Vancouver is a wonderful city surrounded by beautiful nature. The Capilano Suspension Bridge was a great way to experience it,

Capilano Suspension Bridge

Just across the bay from downtown Vancouver, this park has a series of bridges and walkways over Lynn Canyon. Some suspend between trees, and others clinging to a shear rock face. Somehow, the rain made it even better.
