Cape Willoughby Conservation Park
South Australia’s first lighthouse—an iconic whitewashed column—poses against splendid vistas of the Backstairs Passage. Watch for large schools of salmon in the waters there, as well as orcas, humpbacks and southern right whales. The park visitor center contains a small museum, but steer clear of the heritage-listed 1927 lighthouse-keepers’ cottages, which are rented to guests! A park visit can include a 45-minute guided tour or a pamphlet for DIY explorers.
