Cape Spear

Blackhead Road

A popular outing for both visitors and locals, Cape Spear is the easternmost point in North America and provides dramatic views out over the ocean, the chance to see whales in the spring and summer and a connection to the dramatic forces of nature. With crashing waves below and swirling winds all around, the Cape Spear Lighthouse and Fort Cape Spear, built during World War II, provide glimpses into the human history of this powerful site.
