Folk Festival (Cannstatter Volksfest/Wasen)

Mercedesstraße 40, 70372 Stuttgart, Germany

The 170th Cannstatter Volksfest started September 25th, in Bad Cannstatt, Stuttgart, Germany, and it’s drawing crowds of people wearing the traditional German outfits. Our German friends say tourists go to the Oktoberfest, Germans go to the Volksfest. Impossible for me to verify that so I will just go with it. I think they are both very similar with the difference being the size of the venue. It’s smaller in Stuttgart.

Food, glorious food!

The biggest reason why I LOVE the Cannstatter Volksfest is the food. Foot-long sausages, salmon cooked on an open fire, huge cows being spun on the rotisserie, and my absolute favorite, grilled herring served with wild potatoes. Pleasure for the taste buds.
