That's right kids. October 1 marks the start of retail marijuana sales in Oregon and Portland is wasting no time in rolling out stores to serve the evolving green market. The big brew ha here in River City is whether the local upstarts can compete with our neighbors over in "Vansterdam," across the river in Washington. Those Vancouver outlets are promising bargain basement pricing to try and hold on to customers who have been driving over the Columbia River to score their weed. It all should play out to the advantage of potheads on both sides of the border. Nothing like a little competition between neighbors. Both States better cash in while the cashing is good. Most predict that California will move to legalize in 2016, and that will be the potential tipping point for the Feds to finally concede and legalize nationwide. Or not. Canna in the City is my neighborhood purveyor of all things green. With both retail and medical licensing, they have a good chance of becoming a draw which will help the other great shop, restaurants and cafes in the area. We’ll just have to mellow out and see.
