Every year the 1708 gallery in Richmond, VA offers artists an opportunity express their work through light based performances. Each year 1708 picks a different location around the city and for a few hours on Friday night richmonders wander through the exhibits, pedaling bikes to light recycled materials, touching water and light to make music, and as this photo shows, putting their own silhouettes into an exhibition on a bridge. It's a really cool opportunity to engage with a part of the city you wouldn't normally visit and experience alternative art in a unique environment. The gourmet food trunks and local brews also make the evening a little more social.
