Canal do Peixe

Boats of many colors
Twinned with Newark, New Jersey, this town not too far south of Porto looks absolutely nothing like Newark, so don't be afraid to go for a visit dont' worry about fearing for your life if you stray down the wrong streets (but I do love Newark too).

Other than the old art nouveau style buildings and some interesting squares (but not the current road works), what I found impressive in Aveiro were these boats in the canal. Their paint jobs were amazing and very colorful. I couldn't find out what their purpose is because I don't think fisherman go out on them but they did remind me of the boats in the southern French towns of Sete and Meze.
