Argentina has long been serious horse country, which helps explain why the greatest polo players come from here. A short visit to Buenos Aires may not give you enough time to perfect your mallet skills, but it is possible to book a polo lesson and pick up the basics. You can also learn about the sport by visiting the Campo Argentino, the world’s most famous polo stadium. Depending on when you're there, you might catch an exhibition show or perhaps a big-time league match. You'll see more beautiful horses at the Palermo Hippodrome, the racetrack right next door.
