It’s not hard to escape the heat in Scottsdale
, but it’s even better to precede it. Camelback Mountain is one of the great protagonists in this landscape, and deserves your undivided attention for a few hours, at least, of outdoor adventures like hiking or, in my case, rappelling. Tucked right in the middle of the city, Camelback at the dawn of the day is truly a local’s game, and one that I never tire of. Its boulders are bordered with varying trails, and its creosote-dotted terrain has no bad side, delivering sweeping desert views and an awe-inspiring sense of the surrounding vastness.
