101 miles dotted with beaches, state parks, vineyards, nature trails, and gorgeous drives. It might sound too good to be true, but here in Southern California, this holiday idyll is as real as it gets. In fact the California Highway 1 Discovery Route has all this .... and more! We loved spending time in San Luis Obispo County while driving from San Francisco to LA. While the view points and hot springs along the way were special, it was little villages such as Cambria, that made the experience well and truly memorable. The little seaside village of Cambria is dotted with ice-cream parlours, little cafes, and colourful houses - perfect for a family day out! When we weren’t swooning over the Coastal Drive, we were lazing in Edna Valley and sampling premium Californian wines. Road trips don’t get better than this!!
