For our honeymoon, my husband and I stayed at the Calabash Cove Resort and Spa in Gros Islet, St. Lucia.
Upon arrival we were met with a small shower and while we waited for the rain to pass, we spent some time relaxing with drinks at the bar in the Windsong restaurant. We were escorted to our secluded Water's Edge Cottage, one of nine Balinese-style mahogany cottages on the property. The cottage included a private plunge pool, an outdoor shower, and a beautiful wrap-around porch for viewing the amazing sunsets during dinner.
We booked the all-inclusive package for meals and enjoyed every meal either in Windsong or via room service. Dinner was a particularly delicious! From fresh caught local fish to butternut squash soup and fried goat cheese, there was something for everyone.
For those seeking adventure, the resort offered many boat tours of the island, scuba tours, and kayaks on-site. We took a boat tour to Soufrière, after which we drove into a volcano. From there we took a tour of the botanical gardens and had lunch at a local restaurant which also offered panoramic views of the gigantic Pitons (two volcanic plugs) that the island is famous for. For the daring, you can even spend the day climbing the less steep Piton for a truly unique view of the island.
